Adoptable Pugs — Kentuckiana Pug Rescue

Important Information!

KPR serves the states of Kentucky and Indiana. Permit No. P11-001005. If you are outside of those states, please visit www.petfinder.org.

An Adoption Application must be completed before you can be considered as an adoptive home for any Pug. There are no exceptions.

Before submitting your application, please review our Application Process. It will answer most questions you have about what's involved in adopting a Pug from KPR. KPR can not answer any questions about a Pug until you have an approved application on file. This is due to the high volume of inquiries we receive. We are all volunteers who are very busy rescuing, caring for, and transporting rescued Pugs. We do NOT have a central facility where you can visit our rescued Pugs. Our Pugs live in foster homes, where they are observed, evaluated, and cared for until we find their ideal adoptive family.

Adoption Donations are not negotiable. We understand that you may not agree, but we ask that you respect our policies. Please understand that we spend much more on medical bills than we recover in adoption donations for most of the Pugs we rescue, especially our senior Pugs. Our Pugs do not come with a health guarantee. All of our rescued Pugs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on routine vaccinations, fecal tested, and heartworm negative prior to placement. Although we do provide the medical treatment and testing listed above, please remember that we have no way of guaranteeing that they will not have medical issues in the future.

For more information, please visit our Application and Adoption Process page.

Name: Max
Status: Treatment
Rescue ID: 3042
More information:

Max is a 4-year-old pug with a heart full of love and a personality that will win you over instantly! He is around 15 lbs and has a beautiful fawn-colored coat.  He will be ready for adoption in a few weeks after his neuter and final vaccines. If you’re looking for a loving, playful companion with a big personality, Max might just be the perfect fit for your family!

Max was found as a stray, but he’s quickly learned the ropes in his foster home. Though he’s still working on his house training, he’s making great progress and we’re confident he’ll master it after his upcoming neuter surgery. He’s also crate trained, though he occasionally whines a bit at first. Once he settles in, he sleeps peacefully in his kennel through the night.

Max gets along well with dogs of all sizes and ages, though he’s a bit rough when wrestling, so he’d do best with dogs his size or larger. He’s still learning his boundaries, but every play session he learns more. He’s smart and has a respectful demeanor with the elderly dog in his foster home.

His finder reported that Max is cat friendly and wanted to play with her cats - so a tolerant cat who enjoys a little excitement would be best. He’s also great with kids and would love to be part of a family.

One of Max’s favorite things in life is squeaky toys—he’ll run around the house, squeaking away and even barking to himself in pure joy! He’s also a fan of bones and anything that gives him the chance to play. You’ll often find him entertaining himself with his toys, but he’s always up for a snuggle when he’s not zooming around.

Max is an agile little guy—he can easily jump a small garden fence and baby gates. He is also able to climb chain link fences. He will need to be monitored closely in most fenced in yards. He's a natural adventurer who loves his walks and would make an excellent buddy for your outdoor excursions.

Overall, Max is a bundle of energy, always ready to snuggle up or join in on an exciting adventure.

Name: Farley

Rescue ID: 3039
More information:

Fat man in a little suit(case)!!!!

Farley James is a 6-8 year old couch potato who demands belly rubs, kisses, and the best seat in the house.  Farley came to KPR through a local shelter after being turned in as a stray. He has got a BIG personality and will make you laugh, demand all the cuddles, and snore so loudly you have to turn up the TV. He has a lot of opinions and doesn't mind telling you them all!

Farley gets along great with other dogs as long as they aren't too pushy and leave his food alone. There are 4 other dogs in his foster home both big and small. He has some vision issues and takes eye drops daily but it doesn't affect his ability to get around or figure out a full flight of stairs, his favorite chair, or the sun spot on the back of the couch. Farley is a sun seeker and loves to be outside in the best patch of sunlight!

It is highly recommended that any food and high value treats are given to Farley away from other dogs. Because he just got neutered, he is still working on not marking in the house.

If you need a pug to bring some sunshine and smiles into your home, please consider reaching out about Farley.

Name: Jaxon
Status: Available
Rescue ID: 3027
More information:

My name is Jaxon! I am a 4 year old French bulldog/pug mix (also known as a frug!), but my foster mom calls me Mr. Perfect. I am just the best boy! I am free to roam the house with my roommates, a Doberman and a chug because I am completely potty trained! We get along great together. I love walking on a leash. I don't get on furniture unless my mom says okay then I have found out I am a complete snuggle buddy! I love to be loved!

At bedtime I go to my crate. I think I would like  to sleep in bed but I've never been invited.  My previous owner was a lady and I'm not sure how I would do around men. I am a great watchdog but don't like the cat that comes up to eat on the porch. I will give you unconditional love if you will be the lucky one to give me a forever home!

More information:

Hello! I’m Lily and I’m 10 years old. My last owner got sick and couldn’t take care of me. That means I need some help remembering my manners like going potty outside. I don’t like cats and need to be an only dog in your home! I’m staying with older kids right now but I think I’d be okay with any age. I’m pretty chill when it comes to people! I also am completely deaf and cannot hear when you call for me, but I’m incredibly cute, a great companion, and very sweet!

Name: Toby
Status: Available
Rescue ID: 3013
More information:

Hello my name is Toby and I'm the best boy! I enjoy long naps,  short walks, and car rides. I'm an agreeable guy who would like to be petted all day. I get along with all dogs that are nice and most other animals. As someone who excels at sleeping, it should come as no surprise that I have a loud snore! I am still learning how to potty outside, but will wear a belly band with no issue.

Name: Wednesday
Status: Available
Rescue ID: 3010
More information:

Wednesday is an adorable 9-year-old Pug who is full of life! She weighs about
20 pounds and loves everyone she meets and gets along with dogs. She has
only been around cats twice and is curious but not aggressive (however she may attempt to chase the cats before she becomes their friend!).  She LOVES stuffed toys with squeakers
and often falls asleep with one in her mouth. She is a cuddly lady and loves to sit in her foster's lap!

Wednesday has a weak back leg or hip and sometimes drags her leg or
limps. Overall, it does not slow her down especially when it comes to
food or treats! Wednesday has some resource guarding when it comes to her food and would do best to be fed away from other animals. She also struggles with some separation anxiety and would do best in a home with other furry friends or an owner who doesn't have to leave the home very often! She is mostly housebroken at her foster home and is able to use a doggy door, but doesn't enjoy being outside without her people. Wednesday is able to use a crate, but does not prefer it and is not currently crated at all in her foster home.

Her favorite hobbies are being around her people or sitting on them , EATING, and sleeping. Like a lot of Pugs, Wednesday does not care for  rainy or cold weather so does need a little encouragement with walks on  those days, but does well when walking!

Name: Bugsy
Status: Available
Rescue ID: 3001
More information:

Give this little old man a cozy spot and a fan and he will be in heaven! Meet Bugsy! He's a 10-year-old pug who loves to be on the move! Bugsy recently had a surgery to his eyes and can no longer see (nor does he have any eyes), but that does not stop him from loving life! His foster mom reports that he loves going in the car, riding in a stroller, and being carried around like a big baby strapped to her chest! He enjoys going anywhere and everywhere that she goes. Bugsy is cuddly and loves to be petted. He knows no stranger and will seek pets from all humans, big or small. Bugsy doesn't have much interest in other dogs as playmates, but is fine to have them as housemates.

He has a rather fancy palette and enjoys watermelon, eggs, cucumbers, whole milk yogurt mixed with peanut butter, flaxseed, and chia seeds, along with a daily greenie bone.

Bugsy hasn't had a single accident inside since coming to KPR at the beginning of August, so he is a pretty housetrained puggy! He is still learning of the lay of the land in his foster home and is often carried in and out by his foster mom, but he doesn't have any mobility issues.

Name: Ola
Status: Available
Rescue ID: 2977
More information:

Ola and Oscar are a bonded pair who are very sweet and laidback. Their foster reports that not a lot bothers them and they are quite chill. Ola is sweet, but also a little bit of a drama queen (i.e. being vocal when she can't find you). Ola is deaf and blind, but is able to get around well once she is adjusted. She will need some support if there are stairs until she is used to her surroundings. She loves to give kisses and prefers to sleep up at the top of the bed near your head! Ola is potty trained, but needs help to go out (since she can't see). Ola also receives daily eye drops.

Ola and Oscar love to snuggle together, bathe each other, and like to eat side-by-side. They are not overly food motivated, but enjoy watermelon and apples as treats! Their foster describes them a a special pair of friends who are some of the best fosters she's ever had! They are ready for their forever home!

Due to their close bond, Ola and Oscar must be adopted together.
